FAQs

WHY DOES THE CHURCH REQUIRE ENGAGED COUPLES TO PARTICIPATE IN A MARRIAGE PREPARATION COURSE?

The important thing for engaged couples to keep in mind is the well-known adage, “Your wedding lasts a day, but your marriage lasts a lifetime.” This is why the Church encourages couples to invest time and energy into the all-important work of preparing for their married life together.  The Marriage Preparation Course is designed to help you to learn and to grow, both individually and as a couple. The Course also offers you as a couple the opportunity to develop a better understanding of Marriage as a Sacrament. Opportunities for such learning and growth are created through the talks given by the presenting speakers.

HOW LONG DOES THE COURSE LAST?

The Marriage Preparation Course takes place over two consecutive Saturdays: from 09.30 am – 4.30 pm.

NB Registration is from 9.15 am – 9.30 am.

Upon completion of the course, each couple will receive a “Certificate of Participation” from the Diocese to give to the Priest officiating at their wedding.

IS THERE A FEE?

There is a fee of £50 per couple to help towards materials and other expenses. The Marriage Preparation Courses is not run for profit. The presenters give their time generously. Compared to other wedding costs; it is a small price to pay.
